Discovering Albertville
Albertville, a Savoyard town with a population of around 19 500, enjoys a privileged location in the heart of the Alps, in the beautiful Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Let yourself be seduced by its many assets during your stay at Brit Hotel Le Florimont.
Albertville has been awarded the "Ville d'art et d'histoire" label since 2003 and has a wealth of historical sites to discover. For example, you can take the circuit of the fortifications of the Albertville region: start with the remains of the Tourmotte, an ancient feudal mound from the 11th century, dominating a small old village. Continue higher, discover the Fort de Tarnié and its acrofort, then continue by climbing to 144m altitude to the Fort de la Batterie facing the Mont-Blanc, where you will have an unobstructed view of the Ugine valley. To finish, dominate the Albertville region at an altitude of 1,130m, by visiting the Fort du Mont.
The medieval town of Conflans is also one of Albertville's must-see sites. Let yourself be seduced by the intact charm of this 14th century enclosure, its traditional facades and its fountains through guided, free or audio-guided tours, offering versions for adults and children. For example, you can visit the Museum of Art and History located in the Maison Rouge, only a few kilometres from our hotel between Annecy and Albertville.
Albertville is a key event in the history of the town, which hosted the Winter Olympic Games in February 1992 and has kept traces of this event ever since: you can relive this era on a self-guided tour, starting from the town centre and ending at the Olympic Park, to discover, among other things, the House of the Olympic Games (a museum that retraces the adventure of the Olympic Games in Savoie), the DOME cultural complex, the Olympic cauldron and the headquarters of the OCOG.
